Low Residue Diet Recipes

Particularly with Crohn's Disease - and perhaps not so much with Ulcerative Colitis,  when you are in active flare  it is often far more manageable if you stick to a low residue diet.  A very strict low residue diet is very restrictive with no whole foods, so no brown rice, bread or pasta, no pulses, only a few very well cooked and peeled vegetables, low fat and in summary very boring.

When I was suffering with a stricture, which meant only the smallest of food particles could pass through the gut, then I was on a very strict low residue diet indeed. It is not to be recommended for long periods of time as you miss out on essential nutrients, but when there is no alternative then here are some recipes which may help to keep life a little more interesting:

Low Residue Lasagne

Beef Stroganoff with white rice

Coley in white sauce
